WARNING

Anyone who has spoken with us in the past will figure out pretty quickly what that warning is going to be.

It’s both a warning… and a promise.

If you are going to lie down on an adjustable bed – even for a minute, you better be prepared to take it home.
You will absolutely, positively, without a doubt, guaranteed, never again be happy with the old fashioned type of flat bed.
It’s really hard to explain to someone who hasn’t experienced the difference.
Imagine that all of the stress and tension from your body is immediately released. You get support where you need it – and total and complete relaxation throughout your body - and with the massage option, its like having access to a spa treatment whenever you wish.
What many people don’t even realize is that you can use whatever type of mattress you want with your adjustable bed.
If you like the feel of memory foam, use it. Same goes for any other type of mattress – hard, soft, pillow top… whatever you like.
Simply place your favorite type of mattress on top of a quality adjustable bed and prepare to be blown away.

It may sound like a cliché, but your bed really can (and should) be a sanctuary from the stress of the outside world.

In fact, you need it to be that.

Sleep is the time for our bodies to refresh and restore from the physical and emotional stress of our day. If you don’t have an adjustable bed, you are simply not getting the best sleep that you can.

Why in the world would you do that to yourself?

But just remember… you have been warned

Adjustable Beds

Perhaps the biggest benefit of using an adjustable bed, however, is that it gives the user the opportunity to get a good, comfortable night's sleep. This is because the fact that the bed can be adjusted to a number of different positions means that it can help alleviate the pain caused by many physical ailments. These include:
  •     Arthritis and rheumatism.
  •     Respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis.
  •     Circulatory problems.
  •     Swollen legs and varicose veins.
  •     General pain or stiffness in the upper and lower back, shoulders, neck and hips.

The main attraction of an adjustable bed is that it allows you to find a sleeping position that feels right for you - but there is also science behind the mechanics. This states that an ideal sleeping position is with the head slightly raised, which allows for easier breathing. Raising the knees above the level of the heart also increases the flow of blood to the heart and round the body. Furthermore, your comfort is increased because the contoured body position significantly reduces pressure on your skeletal frame.

How important sleep is for ones health

The Harvard Women’s Health Watch suggests six reasons to get enough sleep:

Learning and memory: Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory through a process called memory consolidation. In studies, people who’d slept after learning a task did better on tests later.

Metabolism and weight: Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.

Safety: Sleep debt contributes to a greater tendency to fall asleep during the daytime. These lapses may cause falls and mistakes such as medical errors, air traffic mishaps, and road accidents.

Mood: Sleep loss may result in irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do.

Cardiovascular health: Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.

Disease: Sleep deprivation alters immune function, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Keeping up with sleep may also help fight cancer.

We know that our adjustable beds will help you to have a more rested sleep and  you wake up feeling repaired and ready to face the world...

Adjustable beds may provide relief from a variety of health problems such as:
  • Insomnia Losing sleep has negative effects on health. Research has shown that people who persistently get less sleep are more likely to be in traffic accidents, miss more work days, are less satisfied with their lives and more likely to become easily irritated.
  • Acid Reflux and Night-time HeartburnPressure DistributionMedically called Hiatus Hernia, this means that part of your stomach has squeezed through an opening in your diaphragm and into your chest. This causes acid from the stomach to pass up into the oesophagus causing heartburn. It is estimated that a third of people over 50 have a hiatus hernia.
  • Osteoarthritis Individuals with osteoarthritis in the spine, or facet joint arthritis, often wake up feeling quite stiff and sore in the morning. Sleeping on an adjustable bed may possibly provide better support and therefore decrease the irritation by minimizing joint compression.
  • Spinal stenosis People with spinal stenosis most often feel more comfortable when bending forward instead of standing up straight. Likewise, sleeping on a flat mattress can sometimes be less comfortable for people with this condition than sleeping in the reclining position, such as that afforded by an adjustable bed.
  • Arthritis Sleep disruption is an overlooked consequence of arthritis. Fatigue also is recognized as a symptom of many types of arthritis, in the sense of being “worn out” or “lacking energy”. Better and deeper sleep is recognised as being very beneficial
  • Circulation Circulation is critical to our health. A deficient blood supply will impair our quality of life. Poor circulation causes harmful waste to accumulate and become trapped in the tissues. Circulation can be improved by elevation of the legs and massage.
  • Breathing Many conditions can make you feel short of breath such as asthma, emphysema or pneumonia. Heart disease can make you feel breathless if your heart cannot pump enough blood to supply oxygen to your body. Stress caused by anxiety can also make it hard for you to breathe. If you often have trouble breathing, sleeping in an elevated position can help.
Basically, an adjustable bed has the potential to help anyone who feels more comfortable in an inclined position (such as sitting on a recliner with the feet up) rather than when lying on a regular flat mattress. The following provides a few examples of certain health conditions and how an inclined position in an adjustable bed can sometimes help the patient feel more comfortable.
All our adjustable beds come with a choice of mattresses. The mattresses can incorporate a 5 point massage unit, which aids sleep along with relieving illnesses, allowing you to get a better night’s sleep.
Foam MattressThe massage system allows, at your fingertips, either a full sensual body massage or a concentrated massage on one of five specific areas of the body. With varying levels of intensity and automatic shut off. Soothing waves massage your whole body with rolling wave action and can provide relaxation for restful sleep, and reduce aches and pains. Massage relaxes your muscles, helps relieve neck and back pain and also increases your circulation. It aids the release of stress and tension that has built up in your body throughout the day.
Laybrook Adjustable Beds are designed and crafted by professionals to give the customer many years of comfort, rest and relaxation.
Electric adjustable beds are not just meant for people with medical conditions. Adjustable beds can also be used by other individuals for a stress free and comfortable sleep.
We believe that with our adjustable beds you can get the best sleep ever. Our adjustable beds have a well designed mechanism. This allows you to sit up in bed to read or to help you to get up and out of bed in the morning.
The optimum position for sleeping is with your head and feet both slightly raised so that the tips of your toes are level with the tip of your nose. This helps to relieve the tension from your lower back and greatly improves blood circulation around your whole body.

How new technology can spice things up

People want intimacy, no matter their stage or age in life. Some events used to be game-changers for people – from carpal-tunnel surgery to hip replacements – but sex doesn’t have to end just because the body has undergone some changes. Why not get your bed to change with you?

Adjustable beds address the ergonomic issues that today’s lifestyles can create. Adjustable beds can put you into a zero-gravity zone, which feels incredible not only on the joints, but also during more adventurous activities. Beyond that, adjustable mattresses create many more options from a position perspective. You can raise the foot of the bed or move the head of the bed; this introduces a whole new world of possibilities. From an intimacy perspective, adjustable beds are the Kama Sutra of the mattress industry – they can give you options that you didn’t have before and even massage you in those moments after the act.

Sex and Adjustable Beds

Adjustable beds offer superior options to users. A flat bed does little more for its users than provide a cushion that is only as good as the mattress itself. If a position becomes uncomfortable, it is up to the user to remedy the situation by moving.

But an adjustable bed is an altogether different story. These mechanical beds offer dynamic sleep solutions with head and foot elevation mechanisms that allow for the achievement of a comfortable sleep position without moving. For those with injuries or illnesses that require long-term bed rest, these functions are a necessity for comfort.

Many sufferers of asthma and other breathing-related conditions as well as those grappling with acid-reflux and similar digestive problems find comfort from elevating the upper body.

An adjustable bed with a memory foam mattress can relieve the pressure points that cause soreness, but that also restrict circulation. If poor circulation is a problem, elevating the feet is a proven method for increasing blood flow.

Still more people like to read, work or watch television in bed and an Adjustable Bed is the best option available. Raise the head portion of the bed to a sitting position and enjoy your favorite before-sleep past time comfortably and without stacking pillows.

Sex, yes sex, can also be improved with an adjustable bed. A flat bed limits positions where adjustable beds can be moved to create new positions and options. While this can prove beneficial to couples trying to keep a relationship fresh and passionate, the ability to adjust the bed can also be a benefit to injured or ailing users who otherwise would not be able to partake.

The advantages of adjustable beds are many, so many in fact that it is hard to comprehend considering anything else

Problems with Back Pain, Please read and share

Using an Adjustable Bed for Back Problems
Degenerative spondylolisthesis.
For some people with degenerative spondylolisthesis, sleeping in a reclining position with support under the knees can reduce some of the pain discomfort in the lower back, making it easier to sleep through the night.

Osteoarthritis.
Individuals with osteoarthritis in the spine, or facet joint arthritis, often wake up feeling quite stiff and sore in the morning. Sleeping on an adjustable bed may possibly provide better support and therefore decrease the irritation by minimizing joint compression.

Spinal Stenosis.
People with spinal stenosis most often feel more comfortable when bending forward instead of standing up straight. Likewise, sleeping on a flat mattress can sometimes be less comfortable for people with stenosis than sleeping in the reclining position, such as that afforded by an adjustable bed.

In addition, after having low back surgery, some patients feel that an adjustable bed is more comfortable than a flat mattress. There are choices when it comes to mattresses, this is largely a matter of personal preference and also an option of a build in massage.

In general, it is reasonable for a patient to consider the option of an adjustable bed if he or she feels better sitting in a reclining chair with the knees supported or slightly elevated and if he or she is having trouble getting a good night’s rest on a conventional flat mattress.

Snoring and Adjustable Beds...... a must read!!!

Some people find snoring amusing, eliciting a few chuckles and laughs when they hear snoring or when they talk about it. Others find it irritating, especially if they have to share their room or their bed with somebody who snores. Yet others mistakenly find snoring reassuring, taking it as a sign of restful sleep. But do you know that snoring may present a more serious problem for the person doing it? The good news is that you can help stop snoring by getting an adjustable bed. To understand how this works, you would need to learn what snoring is, what causes it and, more importantly, how to stop it.
What is snoring? Snoring is just like any other sound we hear. It is caused by turbulent airflow causing vibrations in the nasal tissues and tissues in the throat. Snoring is actually very common. Simply put, almost everyone snores. However, estimates say that around 30% of women and 45% of men snore. Some people think that snoring only happens in men who have thick necks. That is a myth, as women and those who are thin snore too. What can stop you from snoring? Believe it or not, a change in your sleeping position could reduce snoring. Sleeping in an upright position may reduce or ease light or occasional snoring. When you sleep, you lie down on your back. This causes gravity to pull on your pharynx, tonsils, tongue and palate. This causes your airway to be narrowed down to cause snoring. Just by propping your head slightly higher than the rest of your body, you can change the direction of gravity so that it does not pull your tongue, palate, pharynx and tonsils in such a way that your airway is obstructed. The benefits of using an adjustable bed to stop snoring. If you suffer from snoring, then you might find some relief from getting an adjustable bed. You can easily raise the head of the bed at the touch of a button. Sleeping in an upright position may reduce light or occasional snoring. This means that you no longer have to use a lot of pillows to prop you up when sleeping. Besides, this could hurt your back in the process. Having an adjustable bed, you can raise the head of the bed so that you do not sleep completely lying down. This will easily shift the gravity. You would find that an adjustable bed can help relieve light or occasional snoring. It can also help offer you a better quality of sleep, making you feel infinitely better each and every morning. Can you imagine what happens when you stop snoring? You'll enjoy a better nights sleep. You get more energy the morning after and you lead a healthier life. Additionally, your spouse would no longer resent you for robbing him or her of a good night’s sleep. Instead of waking you up when you snore, your bed companion could have all the rest that he or she needs!

5 Helpful Benefits of Adjustable Beds "+" Care to Comfort

Adjustable Beds are traditionally thought of as for people who are in hospitals, chronically ill, or in debilitating pain. However, many otherwise healthy people can benefit from using an adjustable bed. There are specific changes that occur within the body as it ages, and these changes may turn into inconveniences or ailments once the body reaches sixty to seventy five. Here are some common problems that older people can face, and how an adjustable bed can assist:

Odeama is a common problem among older people; it is a buildup of fluid, usually occurring in the ankles, feet, and legs. While it is not always painful, it can make walking difficult, and can make the legs and feet feel very heavy. Leg odeama can lead to skin ulcers, and can interfere in blood flow. For more serious cases, medication can be prescribed, but other options are available. By raising the legs above the heart, fluid can disperse and make walking more comfortable. Utilizing an adjustable bed is the easiest way to raise the feet and legs comfortably, for an extended amount of time, with minimal effort.

As we age, the cartilage and ligaments that hold together our vertebrae in our spines becomes thin and less cushioning. This can lead to back aches, and chronic pain. An adjustable bed can be moved to any position that takes the stress off of the affected vertebrae, and can be changed to react to the pain location of the moment.arthritis

Arthritis is a common problem for all ages. There are many different types, but the end result is the same: stiff, painful joints. Adjustable beds can be positioned in any way that is comfortable for the sleeper, a position that will take away the ache and allow the person to sleep comfortably. Additionally, the morning is often the time where arthritis sufferers feel the stiffest, and it may be difficult to get out of bed. By raising the head of the bed and lowering the foot, adjustable beds effectively help “push” the sleeper out of the bed easily.

Older people get less sleep than younger people do, and often find it hard to stay asleep once they get to bed. While as we age we need less rest, the rest that we do get needs to be restorative and rejuvenating. Seniors are more affected by the side effects of not sleeping well: memory loss, confusion, and cognitive difficulties, to name a few. By ensuring that the few hours of sleep they get is completely comfortable and restful, it will keep their minds sharp during the day.

Finally, for those that are in bed most of the time, it’s more than just avoiding bedsores and maintaining comfort. For those who are restricted to their beds, the hardest change to accept is sometimes the lack of freedom and autonomy. By resting in an adjustable bed, the patient can adjust themselves, make themselves more comfortable, and even take over some tasks that can be done sitting up. They are also able to put up the head of the bed to watch TV, read, write letters, work on a laptop, or a hundred other tasks that the would not be able to be done on a flat bed.

Adjustable beds are not just for the infirm, they can be for anyone that wants a more comfortable lifestyle. Whether its odeama, arthritis, back pain, lack of quality sleep, or being confined to bed, an adjustable bed can make sleep time and awake time more enjoyable.
